Healthy living. We see the term everywhere. But what does it mean? It is about achieving balance between physical, emotional, nutritional, and spiritual elements in your life.

What you do affects your health. All five of the major causes of death – cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung disease, and injury – can be caused or prevented by the things you do.

How to strike a better balance…

  • Don’t smoke or use tobacco.
  • Limit how much alcohol you drink, if you drink.
  • Eat right.
  • Lose weight if you are overweight.
  • Exercise.
  • Don’t sunbathe or use tanning booths.
  • Get enough sleep each night.
  • Practice safer sex if you are having sex.
  • Learn to handle or reduce the stress in your life.
  • Get help for depression.
  • Control your blood cholesterol level.
  • Control high blood pressure.
  • Keep your shots up to date.
  • Take care of your breasts.
  • Get regular pap smears and pelvic exams.
