Baked Eggs with Swiss Cheese and Cream

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter, softened

4 large eggs

½ cup grated Swiss cheese

½ cup heavy cream, heated

salt and pepper to taste

crumbled cooked bacon for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Butter 2 large (10-ounce) ramekins and break 2 eggs into each one. Cover each portion with half the cheese and half the heated cream, and season with salt and pepper.

Place the ramekins in a pan filled with enough water to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the egg whites are mostly firm. Remove the ramekins from the oven and preheat the broiler. Place the ramekins under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cheese begins to brown. Serve immediately with the crumbled bacon on top.
